Directions to Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden
Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is right off Interstate 95 and is convenient to Interstates 64 and 295. Located at 1800 Lakeside Avenue in Richmond, VA, the Garden sits at the corner of Lakeside Avenue and Hilliard Road. It is just minutes north of downtown Richmond and is close to many other area attractions, accommodations and dining.

Often, the 1800 Lakeside Avenue, Richmond address does not direct visitors to the front entrance. In these cases, we suggest changing “Richmond” to “Henrico” in your GPS for accurate directions.
From Downtown Richmond (I-95 North)
- Note: There is a large brown Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden highway sign just before Exit 80.
- On I-95 North take Exit 80, the Hermitage Road/Lakeside Avenue exit (Virginia State Route 161). Keep to the right and take the right at the first light onto Lakeside Avenue. You’ll see two brown Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden signs.
- Follow Lakeside Avenue for 1.6 miles. You will cross the intersection of Lakeside Avenue and Hilliard Road (there is a 7-Eleven on the corner) and the Garden’s entrance will be on your left, off of Lakeside Avenue.
- There is a black fence around the Garden and a brick gate with “Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden” and “1800 Lakeside Avenue” on it. Enter through the gate.
From Washington, D.C. (I-95 South)
- Note: There is a large brown Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden highway sign just before Exit 83B.
- From I-95 South take Exit 83B, the Parham Road Rt. 73 West exit.
- On Parham Road, quickly get into your far left lane. There is a small brown Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden sign on the right, but please note you will need to get into the left lane.
- At the second stoplight, take a left onto Brook Road (also known as Route 1 South). There is a small brown Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden sign at this intersection.
- At the third stoplight, take a right onto Lakeside Avenue. At the light you will see a brown Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden sign.
- As you go down Lakeside Avenue, you will see the Garden entrance to your right. This will be just before the intersection with Hilliard Road. There is a black fence and brick gate with “Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden” on it.
- If you cross the intersection of Lakeside and Hilliard (there’s a 7-Eleven on the corner), you have gone too far.
From Charlottesville (I-64 East)
- Come into Richmond on I-64 East. Get onto I-95 North to Washington, D.C.
- On I-95 North immediately take Exit 80, the Hermitage Road/Lakeside Avenue exit (Virginia State Route 161).
