Throughout the Summer
The summer gardens at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden provide colorful displays of summer annuals, tropicals and perennials.
Late June
With showy blooms, fascinating seed pods and undulating leaves, the Lotus (Nelumbo) collection at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden are a highlight of the summer gardens. The breath-taking blooms appear in late June and visitors can view them and their fascinating seed pods up close from the Lotus Bridge.
Summer through Early Fall
The Fountain Garden in front of the Conservatory is a show-stopper, featuring stunning seasonal displays surrounded by dancing waters.
Summer through Early Fall
Beautiful and deadly…but to insects only! Meander along walkways and bridges in a wetland garden to see the Garden’s extensive collection of carnivorous pitcher plants (Sarracenia). These plants live along the water’s edge in nitrogen-poor soil and must capture insects in their pitchers, which are tube-like modified leaves, to get the nutrients they need.
Throughout Summer
Daylilies dot the landscape throughout the gardens in summer.
Year-round
The Children’s Garden is fun all the time, but especially in the summer. Fun for all ages, it includes a wheel-chair accessible Tree House 13 feet off the ground, a 100-year-old mulberry tree to climb on, an International Village and colorful Farm Garden.
