LaToria Barham
Director of Human Resources
LaToria Barham serves as the Director of Human Resources. In her current role, she is responsible for leading Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden’s overall human resources strategy, leadership development, diversity and inclusion, organizational design, cultural development, talent acquisition, employee education and development, compensation and benefits, HR operations and employee relations. As the Director of Human Resources, she has changed the function, culture, and impact across the organization to support its business goals and strategies.
In 2021, LaToria put her experience and knowledge to practice by becoming one of the first Human Resource professionals at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. LaToria has overseen efforts that have resulted in more effective, organization-wide talent acquisition practices that better utilize technology and comprehensive surveys that engage employees at all levels and serve as the foundation for future change and progress.
She is passionate about fostering diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Her excellent communication skills and approachable demeanor make her a trusted resource for employees seeking guidance. LaToria stays at the forefront of HR trends and best practices, ensuring that her strategies are not only effective but also forward-thinking. With results-driven mindset, LaToria has implemented strategies that align with organizational goals, strategic planning and streamlined HR processes, making her a valuable asset to any organization looking to optimize its human capital for success.
She is a native of North Carolina. She has a Bachelor of Science from Livingstone College and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix with concentrations in Human Resources Management and Psychology. She has two adult children and one grandchild. In her free time, you will find LaToria, volunteering, traveling, taking photos or horseback riding.
