Meet Exhibit Coordinator Alex Arzt
by Jasmine Kent, PR and Marketing Intern, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden
Just this August, Alex Arzt arrived in Richmond, enrolled into Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts, and brought her talent to Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden as the exhibit coordinator Ginter Gallery II. Alex has established herself in the realm of art with a B.A. in Photography from the Rhode Island School of Design and has traveled around the country to developing an extensive portfolio featuring photographs of people in their environments. She is currently pursuing a MFA in photography at VCU.
Alex’s graduate work is set to showcase how people relate to nature, making her graduate assistantship position at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden a perfect match. She is currently working on creating photograms and spore prints of mushrooms, and is considering gearing her project towards composting and decomposing.
Alex will be coordinating exhibits for Ginter Gallery II in the Education and Library Complex that feature artists whose work deals with nature. She is excited to be surrounded by a community of people who are knowledgeable about the natural world and she’s looking forward to being surrounded by nature at her work.
