Artist Bio:

Born in 1989, in New Delhi, India, Pallavi Sen is an interdisciplinary artist, working with installation, printmaking, textiles, Instagram, and intuitive movement. An uncompromising and invested dabbler, her latest interests include the lives of birds and animals, South Asian costumes, traditional architecture, rituals, altars, deities, the history of pattern, of woven cloth, farming and the artist as farmer, work spaces, work tables, eco-feminism, love poems, the gates to Indian homes, sisterhood, walking, and cooking deliberately.

Pallavi studied Printmaking at the Columbus College of Art & Design, and received her MFA in Sculpture + Extended Media at the Virginia Commonwealth University, in 2016. Between those two periods of study, she has worked as a display designer, a bench jeweler hammering gold and sorting diamonds, as a research intern at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, studying baroque tapestries and European stained glass, and most recently as a designer and teacher with the Marpha Foundation in the Mustang Valley of Nepal. She has been an artist in residence at Mildred’s Lane, the Yale Summer School of Art & Music at Norfolk, Ox-Bow School of Art, Byrdcliffe Artist’s Guild, and the Wormfarm Institute.
