This life-size sculpture of a bicycle was created by New York artist Sean Kenney, one of only 15 LEGO® Certified Professionals in the world. It was inspired when Kenney was riding his bike and noticed he was zipping past all the cars stuck in New York City traffic.
The Garden will display the sculpture in the Library throughout September as it helps welcome the world to Richmond for the UCI Road World Cycling Championships. The sculpture is also an exciting preview of Sean Kenney’s work. His award-winning Nature Connects: Art with LEGO® Bricks exhibit comes to the Garden May 27 – September 18, 2016. The exhibit features nearly half-a-million LEGO® bricks of larger-than-life flowers, birds, insects and more.
Bicycle Triumphs Traffic Group Build! Join us August 30-31st as we ask YOU (adults and kids) to help us build the crazy traffic jam of cars at the base of the sculpture. Registration is now open.
