Pre-Requisite: Introduction to Drawing for Botanical Illustration

GES: BI, 5, elective*

*This class provides 5 hours of elective credit toward the Botanical Illustration Certificate Program. Only students who are enrolled in the certificate program may register for this class.

Recommended Supplies from the Instructor, Sheila Hayden:

  • Paper: I find Stonehenge Aqua hot press to be a nice smooth paper for graphite. I suggest a few sheets of size 8X10 or 9X12
  • Pencils: I like Caran d’Ache Grafwood pencils. I suggest HB, and 2B. Amazon has a nice larger set if you are doing a lot of graphite. Some people like mechanical pencils which are fine if you like them
  • Erasers: Everyone should have a good kneaded eraser. Faber Castell is a common brand. A good white eraser is also useful.
  • Rulers, Lights, and Drawing Boards are also needed.

The supplies on this list are recommended not required. If you have equivalent supplies from the Introduction to Drawing classes you can use those. The ones I am suggesting here are those that I have found work for me.
