Dried, Designed & Demonstrative

Text & photos by Brian Vick, Community Kitchen Garden Coordinator, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden

The Dominion GardenFest of Lights installation is nearly complete at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. For 2013, the theme will feature constructions from, or replicating, nature’s jewels — this year’s GardenFest theme after all is A Natural Love Affair. The details are multitudinous and magnificent. Here are a few for starters.

mouse house

A “Mouse House”, design & construction by Laurel Matthew. Note the poppy seed heads as table legs, and the acorn caps as feet on the sofa legs.

dragonfly made from seedpods
