Experience a cultural flair in the Garden at our Día de los Muertos event! Bring offerings for the altar, try out all our crafts, receive a sugar-skull style face-painting by Artist Vanessa Hoggins, watch Artist David Amoroso as he demonstrates “papel picado” cutting craft! More activities listed below. Think you’ll get hungry? Grab a bite to eat at our Taco Bar!

Día de los Muertos

Location: Central Garden 

Time: 10am-2pm 

Entertainment

  • An altar for offerings, featuring electric candles, and spaces for photographs and names to honor the departed (Located by Bloemendaal House on Crepe Myrtle Walk)
  • Bilingual Storytime – 10am-11am
  • Papel Picado – Artist David Amoroso will be demo-ing a “papel picado” cutting craft, and selling merch.
  • Face Painting – Artist Vanessa Hoggins will offer sugar-skull style face-painting.
  • Crafts – Tables offering crafts by Lewis Ginter volunteers.
  • Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will have a table offering info and activities.

  • Taco Bar: Immerse yourself in this delicious dish with hispanic music on the patio by the Cafe
  • The Garden Cafe: Open 10am-4pm
