THE LANGUAGE OF FLOWERS

Floriography, or the language of flowers, is the covert expression of one’s feelings through flowers and flower arrangement. Although this practice has been in place for thousands of years in Europe, Asia, and Africa, it is closely associated with England’s Victorian Era. Messages and feelings were expressed through the language of flowers in gifts of small bouquets, called tussie-mussies. Using the Garden as inspiration, we will explore the language of flowers and find our own voice within the world of plants, creating our own tussie-mussie to express our thoughts and feelings. This class is a part of the Lessons through Nature series with Sarah Croscutt.

Our Garden continues to follow CDC recommendations and state guidelines for preventing the spread of COVID-19. Properly worn masks are strongly encouraged for indoor class participants regardless of vaccination status. The Garden reserves the right to implement additional safety measures. Any updates will be communicated prior to class, if possible.
