Artist Bio:

Amanda McCauley’s botanical collage works fuse materials from the natural world. Each piece of art is meticulously made with layers of dried flowers, sticks, moss, leaves and other natural materials. Amanda McCauley Artist

With a degree in Graphic Design, Amanda created a novel idea, the art of pressed flowers + graphics. Her works translates into a distinctive artistic style, using preserved, pressed flora as the palate for highly original botanical works. A self-described rule breaker, McCauley continually strives to work outside of any one genre. She recently made her debut into the world of seaweed – a skillset and process directly opposite of pressed, dried flowers. McCauley works with seaweed in water to capture light, brilliant color and texture, shaping new forms within the natural environment.

Amanda spent her childhood years in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, and from her teenage years, grew up in Richmond. She now splits her time between two distinctly different islands: New York City and Lopez Island, WA. It is on Lopez Island where she runs her studio, The Barn. She produces her own exhibitions and shows her creations in a cross-section of traditional and non-traditional venues. McCauley maintains a rigorous studio practice and has launched a series of pressed flower workshops. Through her workshops, she empowers communities to be more hands-on with their surroundings.
