BASIC BIRDING
FOR BEGINNERS
If you enjoy the outdoors and want to learn more about finding, observing and identifying birds, this course is for you. This can also be a refresher course for those who have some experience. The first session is devoted mainly to learning how to identify local birds. Some time will be spent discussing field guides, binoculars, organizations and where to go birding around Richmond. The second session is spent in the Garden observing the great diversity of fall migrating birds. Participants should come dressed for the weather for the second session and expect to hike up to two miles over sometimes irregular terrain.
Our Garden continues to follow CDC recommendations and state guidelines for preventing the spread of COVID-19. Properly worn masks are required for indoor class participants regardless of vaccination status. Non-vaccinated participants are also required to wear masks when outdoors and unable to maintain 6 feet of social distancing. The Garden reserves the right to implement additional safety measures. Any updates will be communicated prior to class, if possible.
