Happiness Dance Studios Multicultural Dance Performances:
- 11 – 11:20 a.m. – Lebanese Dance (Dancer, Michael Kahwajy-Hyland )
One cultural Lebanese dance is called Dabke. It originated in the Levant, a part of the Middle East. The music is very distinct and has very strong down beats and typically contain instruments that we don’t see here in the US, like the oud, mijwiz, and tabla. It is a strong-looking dance recognized by a variety of hops, stomps and styling. This style of dance originally evolved through ancient community life, and is now used in many scenarios including celebrations, weddings, as a form of social expression, and even as a form of peaceful & creative protest.
- 11:30 – 11:50 a.m. – African Dance (Dancer, Tallyn Clark)
African dance origin comes from the African continent, which is made up of many diverse countries, and has cultural tribal beliefs that represent the movements. Dances and their meaning are passed down to younger generations and are utilized during all social events from celebrations and festivals to mourning and funerals. Drumming and the combination of beats also have a meaning and dictates the type of dance performed. African music and dance is the foundation of many other forms of dance.
- 12 – 12:20 p.m. – Bollywood Dance (Dancer, Ram Sagar Reddy Kondap)
Bollywood dance has several different forms from classical to urban styles. Bollywood style dancing is from India. This heritage of dance has a uniqueness that is unmistakable compared to other forms of dance. This filmy style of dancing uses freestyle and include various dance forms and is accented by the strong percussive music. It is a very active dance that is exciting to watch and participate. Bollywood got its urban notoriety in movies, TV, and dance competitions.

Join the City Nature Challenge — We’ll be Citizen Scientists for the day! Help us make observations and take photos of wild plants and animals and uploading them to iNaturalist. Children are welcome to help with a parent.
SUNDAY:
Poet-Tree in Motion — Celebrate the growth of the Poet-Tree and National Poetry Month activities for all ages. Look for writing sessions, storytime, indoor and outdoor poetry readings, a poetry walk and more in the Lora Robins Library. 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. See the full Poet-Tree in Motion schedule.
Exhibit and related activities included with Garden admission.

Tickets are available at the Garden 9 a.m to 5 p.m daily and can be bought at the door. You can also purchase tickets online (with a small convenience fee).
