Capital One Partners with Venture Richmond & Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden to Make a More Beautiful RVA
by Jonah Holland, PR & Marketing Coordinator, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden
A few weeks ago, more than 250+ dedicated Capital One volunteers worked over 2 days to plant more than 1,200 botanicals throughout 13 blocks of downtown Richmond. Venture Richmond, a non-profit organization focused on community enhancement, in partnership with the City of Richmond and Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden were inspired to make Richmond’s gateway more beautiful. Director of Horticulture Grace Chapman, and Gardener Leah Purdy designed the project’s plantings. Their goal: four seasons of interest in addition to plants that can stand up to a urban environment.
Plantings included Yucca ‘Color Guard,’ Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Nana Gracilis’, Chamaecyparis pisifera ‘Golden Mop’, Euphorbia ‘Blackbird, Hibiscus ‘Kopper King’ and many more.
Have you seen the new plantings? What do you think? How do they look?
