A Million Blooms

Regular Garden admission.
Celebrate spring with A Million Blooms -- offering a million ways to have fun in the Garden and featuring a spectacular succession of blooms including daffodils, cherry blossoms, tulips, iris, roses and peonies. Highlights of A Million Blooms include special events such as Easter Weekend, Mother’s Day, the Spring Plant Sale and plant shows, and activities in the Children’s Garden. On weekends, local artists are scheduled to be in the Garden working in the Impressionist tradition of "plein aire" (drawing and painting in the open air).

Easter Weekend with Peter Rabbit
Peter Rabbit greets visitors, a storyteller reads the classic Peter Rabbit tales, Saturday concert on the lawn at Bloemendaal House, and an Easter Sunday brunch (sorry, reservations are now full for Easter brunch.)

A Blooming Anniversary Weekend
Noon - 3 p.m.
Step back in time and celebrate the Garden's 25th anniversary with activities including high-wheeled bicycle demonstrations, ragtime music by the Titanic String Band, tours of historic Bloemendaal House, book-signing of new Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden history, and a Sunday "celebration" brunch.
Thursday, April 23
Garden open til 9 p.m. in celebration of Historic Garden Week in Virginia
On this special evening, guests can drop in and chat with Garden hosts about "very Virginia" plants, enjoy tasting Virginia wines, listen to live music, tour historic Bloemendaal House, dine in the Garden Cafe and browse in the Garden Shop. Wine-tasting from 6 - 8 p.m. Cafe dining and shopping til 8 p.m.
(Also a Member Night for Garden members.)

African Violet Show and Sale

Kick off the gardening season! This community celebration offers family-friendly music, entertainment and food. The event is the Sunday after Earth Day (April 22) and includes activities promoting environmental stewardship and highlighting the work of local "green" partners.

Pinwheels for Prevention Garden
April 1 - 30
In recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month, more than 3,000 pinwheels will be "planted" in the Children's Garden along the lake edge. Each pinwheel represents a child in Virginia who has been served during the past year by Prevent Child Abuse Virginia's Healthy Families program.
